Great solution for combination boxes and other electrical panels where our traditional clamp sensors don't fit! Emporia highly recommends that Rogowski cable installation be performed by a licensed electrician or other qualified professional.

"I've been wondering for a long time why my energy bills were so high. Within days of installing the system I know that I need to replace my upstairs AC and my garage refrigerator. Those two items account for 40% of my energy usage. Spending $200 for this device saved me from replacing the wrong thing. Absolutely worth every penny." - Gerald G., Verified Amazon Review

Really terrific, precise monitor.

I moved to the Vue from a Sense Monitor. I found the Sense to be unreliable and too variable in the devices it was detecting. While the Vue takes a bit more effort to set up, especially with a sub-panel, it’s undeniably more consistent and precise. I’m a big fan.

Some more power visualizations would be nice (I do admittedly miss the live usage visualizations in Sense), but it’s really not a big deal and I appreciate the continued development from Emporia. :)

Love the VUE. But with a full panel plus solar plus a Tesla charging station, plus a standby generator; the Gen2 would have fit much better.

Vue 3 Home Monitor with mains and 8 circuits product review.

So I was looking for a simple fuse panel power usage monitor. I reviewed a few different ones online and settled on the Vue 3 from Emporium.

It was a straight forward install. I did go out and buy 2 extra breakers for my panel to power my Vue 3 ( I had lots of fun used space). You can power them in line with existing breakers but choose to just add 2. Plus this allows me power cycle the Vue 3 if it ever has a problem and not effect anything else.

The install instructions were straight forward. I am not an electrician but was able to safely install this monitor. I turn off the power to my house and ran all the cables. Vue 3 cables and probes to my selected circuits.

Setting up the APP was a breeze. I was even able to use my web browser and monitor my Vue 3 from my computer. It allowed me to put in my kWh rate for my area. It will will even allow split rate prices (Peak/Off Peak).

My main reason for buying this was to see if it will work for metering my 2 apartments attached to my garage/shop. This way I can charge the tenant only for what they use in power and not have them concerned that they are paying part of the shops bill

This appears like it will send an email/notifications to me at the beginning of each month with the total uses kWh for that monitor. That is all I really wanted. The circuit monitoring has been nice though. I did find that I should have bought the 16 circuit monitoring kit. Monitor the 8 I did have had been helpful in identifying some extra draw from in efficient lighting that I was unaware of.

I changed out all the light in one of rooms and saw a 200 watt drop in power usage. That adds up to $30+ per month based on my utilities rate in my area.

I also see my heated mats need to be turned off when there is no snow as they consume over 750 watts when powered on. That was a big surprise. So now I am ordering 8 more circuit monitors.

I do wish the application did more stuff. Like maybe notify me if it detects something out of the normal of my power usage. Like maybe leaving my heat mats on or a sudden spike in a circuit that hasn't been the normal pattern. Things like that would be nice.

But for the main purpose of monitoring my rental unit it will work great I think.

My 2 cent's,

What is home energy monitoring?

Imagine a device that tracks your home energy use every second and helps you manage it efficiently to save money.

That's exactly what the Emporia Vue 3 Home Energy Monitor offers.

Designed for homeowners who are new to the concept of energy monitoring, the Vue 3 is an innovative device that brings transparency, control and automation right to your fingertips.

Empower your home,
optimize your energy use

Automation

Set a schedule to automatically charge your car at the lowest price. Turn on and off lights based on your household routine. Manage Peak Demand thresholds and automatically adjust your smart devices when utility pricing changes.

Save money

With easy-to-use graphs and real-time reporting, the Vue quickly helps you identify wasteful energy culprits. For the average homeowner, the Vue can save you 10% or more monthly on your energy bill.

Real-time data

Unlike a monthly utility bill, the Vue breaks down usage by minute, hour and day. With the free mobile or web-based app, information about your energy consumption is always at your disposal.

Notifications

Stay informed and manage your energy consumption with real-time notifications from your Vue. The device offers customizable notifications, including reminders - never worry that you left the oven on again!

How the Vue works

Step 1

The Emporia Vue 3 is installed directly into your home's electrical panel, providing detailed monitoring of your energy consumption.

Step 2

Monitor your overall home usage with the Whole Home model or you can monitor specific rooms or appliances with the addition of up to 16 sensors.

Step 3

By adding these circuit level sensors you can identify energy hogs, see any unusual activity like a sump pump that is constantly running or even be notified if you left the oven on.

Step 4

If you have more than 16 breakers you want to monitor, just add another Vue Home Energy Monitor in the same panel and manage it all in our convenient, free app.

Step 5

Configure settings in the Emporia Energy App to automate energy management for time of use, peak demand, excess solar, and rewards programs.

The standard Lorem

How many sensors do I need?

  • Monitor Only

  • 8 Sensors

  • 16 Sensors

The base Vue 3 model will track your systems main lines giving you a Total Usage (or Net) value seeing how much energy your home is using.

No additional 50A CT sensors are included in this kit to track individual circuit usage, but it provides the functionality needed to track your overall usage and leverage energy management features from the Emporia platform.

This package provides you with 8x 50A CT sensors to track individual circuits within your electrical panel as well as your system mains.

The additional 50A CTs are helpful to track suspect circuit usage, high appliance loads and circuits of interest. This package is helpful if you're not concerned about every circuit within your panel, but focused on a select few branch circuits usage. Also helpful to monitor solar generation if present.

This package provides the most complete measurement coverage available with a single Vue energy monitor.

It allows for up to 16x branch circuits to be monitored from the same panel that your Vue energy monitor is installed in. Use these sensors to track your solar generation, high appliance load or any circuits of interest.
