Step 1: The Emporia Vue 3 is installed directly into your home's electrical panel, providing detailed monitoring of your energy consumption.
Step 2: Monitor your overall home usage with the Whole Home model or you can monitor specific rooms or appliances with the addition of up to 16 sensors.
Step 3: By adding these circuit level sensors you can identify energy hogs, see any unusual activity like a sump pump that is constantly running or even be notified if you left the oven on.
Step 4: If you have more than 16 breakers you want to monitor, just add another Vue Home Energy Monitor in the same panel and manage it all in our convenient, free app.
Step 5: Configure settings in the Emporia Energy App to automate energy management for time of use, peak demand, excess solar, and rewards programs.
The base Vue 3 model will track your systems main lines giving you a Total Usage (or Net) value seeing how much energy your home is using.
No additional 50A CT sensors are included in this kit to track individual circuit usage, but it provides the functionality needed to track your overall usage and leverage energy management features from the Emporia platform.
This package provides you with 8x 50A CT sensors to track individual circuits within your electrical panel as well as your system mains.
The additional 50A CTs are helpful to track suspect circuit usage, high appliance loads and circuits of interest. This package is helpful if you're not concerned about every circuit within your panel, but focused on a select few branch circuits usage. Also helpful to monitor solar generation if present.

The Vue 3 was very easy to install and setup with clear instructions and the app worked great. Ours has been up and running for 3 weeks now and it has already identified enough energy hog fixtures to pay for itself. I love having the insight into our energy usage and feel like this should be standard equipment for every household! I’m very happy with it and would recommend to anyone.
Am planning a solar and battery backup system for my home and wanted more data on appliance energy consumption, especially start-up current and energy use over longer periods. I am a trained electronic engineer so was not daunted by the installation but found that the instructions were excellent and installation was straightforward. Since then, I have been collecting the data I need and have found some ‘interesting’ energy sinks that I was not anticipating - and which I will deal with to save some extra money. So I am extremely pleased so far.
That said, I also learned one thing that I believe could be highlighted as a warning: in a load center, the red and black phases were not in the order I was expecting. I believed that the left side was “black-red-black etc.” and the right side was “red-black-red etc. “. This assumption was wrong with my Square D load center. The phases are identical on reach side. A warning note to check the phases would be a nice addition. (I did check so it wasn’t a problem for me).
Been really enjoying the data from the home energy monitor. It was always hard to tell exactly how much my water heater, hvac, and EV were using. It's nice to know for future planning of upgrades or perhaps help me understand where a behavioral change could have an impact on my energy usage. It also clearly shows which lights I have neglected to change to LEDs as well. It also helped me realize that a circuit that I thought wasn't being used is actually being partially used by my heat pump for something. This has been a great birthday gift to myself!
